Frequently Asked Questions About CBD

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a phytocannabinoid discovered in 1940. Phytocannabinoids are cannabinoids that occur naturally in the cannabis plant. CBD (short for cannabidiol) is one of over 100 cannabinoids found in the hemp plant. CBD is non-psychoactive and give consumers the “high” associated with THC.

CBD has catalyzed the rebirth of the U.S. hemp industry, which lay dormant for decades because of drug war politics. The 2018 Farm BIll includes a provision that legalizes the cultivation of hemp (cannabis with no more than 0.3 % THC) in large part because of the popularity and driving economic force of CBD.

What is the difference between hemp seed oil and CBD oil?

CBD oil uses the stalks, leaves, and flowers of the hemp plant in its production. These contain a higher concentration of CBD.

Meanwhile, hemp seed oil comes from the seeds of the Cannabis sativa plant. The seeds do not contain CBD, but they still have a rich profile of nutrients, fatty acids, and useful bioactive compounds.

What are the different forms of CBD?

CBD oil can is available in several forms with each having advantages depending on your reason for using CBD. Tinctures are the most common way of consuming CBD, along with softgels, topicals, and edibles such as gummies, while many other options are starting to emerge.

Epidiolex is the only CBD drug in the United States that is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Epidiolex is strictly used in conjunction with two types of epilepsy disorders and was approved for use in 2018.

Which CBD tincture is right for me?

Our CBD Full Spectrum Tinctures are available in 1oz (30ml) bottles in two different strengths; 1500mg and 3000mg. Piedmont Blue Full Spectrum tinctures are made with a hemp-derived distillate.

Our THC Free Tincture is available in 1500mg in a 1oz (30ml) bottle and is made using remediated crude (oil that has had the THC removed). By using crude oil in our formulation, the consumer has access to all of the plant extract without the presence of THC.

Our tinctures  are designed to be taken sublingually (by dropping the oil under your tongue and keeping it there between 30 and 60 seconds before swallowing). This allows your body to better absorb the CBD.

Every person’s biochemistry is different and results will vary from person to person. We advise you gradually add our higher mg doses to your daily routine to determine the right amount for your body based on your needs. We do not recommend taking our high-potency CBD on an empty stomach.

Talk to your physician about CBD! We are not medical professionals and do not know your individual medical history, so it’s important to talk to those who do when adding CBD to your daily routine.
